You would need a custom pressure line(s).

You can get a relief valve at Northern Tool, P/N 2044-C174, ~$26 (last year's catalog).

Grainger #6X843, ~ $31

Coolers are common at the junk yard. They go on the return line to the pump. Tee in the relief valve so it dumps thru the cooler.

Put a filter in the system also.

You probably have a higher system pressure when the truck is cold. If you want what you consider "better feel" you may want higher pressure.

Too much power steering

Hey, thanks for the link. I like the idea it's desinged for PS. I started running into questions like flow and temperature which I know little about concerning our old trucks. I started thinking that a custom fab line may not be needed if I plumbed in a valve right from the pump and then used the stock line from the valve. I just need the right compression fittings....thanks again.

That valve is just like the ones I gave you the numbers for, just 2-3 times as expensive. It looked like everything on that site was expensive, but it is handy for people building hotrods that don't have access to other parts. You pay big $$$ for the service tho.

It looked like the valve at heidts had been powder coated tho. That would be OK except for when you had to use a wrench on it... -No more powder coat.

DO NOT use teflon tape on hydraulic fittings. Use liquid or paste type sealants with teflon in them.
