Now that I have the pinhole in my block sealed I can concentrate on my original problem hard start.the glow plugs and GPR seem to be working fine.It seems like I am losing the "prime". Almost like the bowl has to refill itself before it will start
The GPR is brand new.I have not checked each glow plug. The wait to start light lasts about 25- 40 seconds. The truck will attempt to start almost everytime I crank it but it won't catch and run the first few times. Is it possible to have a back flow of fuel when sitting overnight through a weak fuel pump
After the light goes out keep waiting 30 seconds.then hit it.the glow plugs will be on for up to two minutes.the wait to start light is just a reminder.it can take more warming in very cold weather.
The fuel pump doesn't hold fuel. The fuel bowl does. If the bowl is not remaining full, you have a leak.
As fordman67 suggested above, what can "leak down" while parked is the injection oil (HPO). Remove the reservoir top plug next time you park it, and note the level. Replace the plug, then after it's been parked a while, check it again. If it's gone down, there's your problem. HP oil is draining back into the pan while parked.
Reservoir is full.I tried to start it this morning and it would bump like it wants to start but after about 15 mins of that I sprayed some "liquid crack" in it and she fired up. (Yes I know better)it seems to run okay but every once in a while it will stumble or just out the blue die but will start back up.i need to make this truck dependable right now I am scared to drive it anywhere.
Is there a way to test wiring harness for ohms to the glow plugs or do the covers have to come off?

You can ohm the gp's through the harness plugs on each head in the valley. 2 on each side. The outside pins in each plug are glow plugs. Test to battery ground. They should ohm out at about 1 ohm each. The middle pin is a common ground. The other two are injector pins. If you want to test them they should ohm at about 3.2 each, tested through the common ground. Sounds like you have some dead gp's.
I agree with Darin. I also think you have some bad glow plugs. Another quick way to test the glow plugs is using a 12v test light. Clip the ground wire of the test light to the POS terminal on the battery. Unplug the the valve cover harness plugs and touch the tip of the test light to each outside pin down in the valve cover gasket. If it lights up the GP is good, if it doesn't light up, the GP is bad.
I am going to check the gp's and injectors this weekend. If I have to remove the valve covers to replace parts are there any other mods or improvements I need to make?
Yeah I just called rosewood they stopped selling rebuild kits for 7.3 strokers 4 years ago.rebuilt injectors are 150 each.1200 plus shipping and applicable tax.wow don't think I can't afford that right now.does anyone else sell rebuild kits?
