2015 steering sensitivity **Update**

With the break in complete on my 2015 f250 it seems as though the steering is extremely sensitive. I find that any slight movement or God forbid, (wind), it's hard to keep this truck in the lane without having to jerk on the wheel and fight it constantly.

I haven't experienced this issue with mine, but will keep it in mind.

I took awhile for me to get used to it as well.

I came from a 2008 and traded for the 2013 I have now.

After a bit I got used to it. Just give it some time.

That has to be a slight alignment issue. This 2015 drives just like the 2012 did, which was, well, normal. Never any corrections for wind, grooved pavement, etc. Have the dealer check the alignment, that doesn't sound right to me.

I have actually been very impressed with how well mine handles a strong crosswind lately. Previous vehicles I had owned would wear me out trying to stay in my own lane in these conditions. With this truck, I can barely tell it's windy. I too would recommend checking the alignment.

The biggest adjustment I had to make coming to this truck from previous vehicles was actually how much less responsive the steering was compared to most of them. For the most part, my previous vehicles were power assisted rack and pinion and were very touchy, whereas this one is a gear-box and requires more movement of the steering wheel to achieve the same results. To me, it also feels over-boosted. It is nice to be able to turn with a finger, but I really prefer a little more resistance. I would imagine though that it serves it's designed purpose well though for towing and maneuvering.

Still plenty sensitive even when towing heavy. But you get used to it.

Reminds me of our crown vic and the variable assisted steering. It would be very very easy at slower speeds. You could be all over the road till you got used to it.

Higher speeds it increased the resistance.

I've had the variable assistance before as well, and I liked the highway feel. It was very easy to move around in tights spaces when going slow - like in a parking lot - but easier to control at speed.

Well I made an appointment for tomorrow. Another thing I forgot to mention is the steering wheel isn't straight when the actual truck is straight.

Yes Alignment for sure, just got finished messing with this. Les Schwab couldn't get my truck to stop drifting to the right even after 3 alignments, the tech said it's perfectly aligned. They finally had me purchase an adjustable ball joint sleeve for the right side for $45 and that gave them the extra adjustment needed to fix it. It's perfect now without the steering wheel off and no drift.

I got my truck back yesterday from my local dealer. I didn't get to take it out on the highway to test it till today. They said that the toe was off and they corrected it. It's a little better than it was, but still not 100% stable and still overly sensitive.

I took it to my selling dealer about an hour away. They wanted a tech to ride with me. I showed him the steering wheel not straight and still too much play in the wheel. He decides we should take another platinum out off the lot and compare.

It wasn't night and day, but it was very noticeable how much smoother and more planted this truck drove. Even the tech agreed after driving it that my truck was in fact not the same ride as the one on the lot.

So now they are going to look at it tomorrow, and I hope fix whatever is the issue. I haven't towed with it yet even though this is what I bought the truck for. It's hard enough keeping it in the lane empty, I couldn't imagine a camper or trailer too.

I guess we will see, but with this truck I'm not holding my breath. I've had problems since the first day I've picked it up.

Certainly not the correct "toe-in" would cause any vehicle to wander. And you're right, once you put some weight on the hitch it could be worse. I would hope they get fixed tomorrow.
I once bought a Mercury Cougar which pulled to the left. Took it to the dealer and they attempted to adjust the alignment, but the steering wheel was now way to the right, and it still pulled left. Took it back and they actually tore into the differential thinking it was a gear issue ??? Still the same. I finally gave up on the dealership and took it to an alignment shop where they determined it was a bad front left tire. Yep, even with correct air pressure the tire was causing the car to pull left. New tire, problem solved. Crazy, three days wasted at the dealership for nothing.

Let us know what you hear from the dealer, metfancowboy. I'll be happy to loop in your regional customer service manager; send me a PM with your details and I'll make it happen. In your message, be sure to include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership.

I ran into a similar problem with a new 1991 Ply Voyager........The dealer did everything including replacing the Steering Rack. Stilled pulled to the right. I replaced the front tires for winter.......Problem when away !!
The original tires on that car and my 2011 F-350 were junk.
