OK, I'm new 'round these parts...hope some one can help. This is my problem, some months ago, a squealing started under the hood of my '98 Ranger 4x4. Alot of people told me it was probably the idler pulley. So I replaced it. But the truck still makes noise. After some careful under the hood listening, I came to the conclusion that it was in the vicinity of the a/c. When I went to pick up the pulley at a local dealership, the guy at the counter informed me of the difficulty of the install for a rookie such as myself. So now, here I sit, wondering what to do. Do I buy a new compressor, or a rebuilt one? Do I need any special tools to install it? What else do I need to do? Please, somebody point me in the right direction.
