I have a 2001 F250 SD currently and I just recently purchased a 2007 F250 SD. I have read about the brake issues on the earlier year SD's and I myself had sticky caliper problems on and off with mine as well. I have changed all the calipers in the truck probably twice over in 178K miles. The 2007 that I picked up has 28K miles on it and I am wondering if Ford had improved upon the calipers on the later SD's? Or if I should expect issues? Any other areas of concern on this 2007 model truck? It has the V-10 in it. My outgoing truck has the 5.4 and the motor was solid but blew several coil packs over the years, never any mechanical problems. I understand the V-10 is no mileage champ, but I bought it for pulling, it has the 4.10 rear end in it.
My 2008 has had all the calipers replaced once and three of the four replaced again with a different brand the second time around. The ford calipers suck
I haven't had any problems out of my sd, but my 97 250 had one caliper go bad at 200,000 miles. It had a phenolic piston in it and it deformed and stuck, but after replacing it with a metal one it was fine.
The difference is the brakes are bigger and the partsare more expensive. I have replaced all4 calipers and I have done the rears twice in my 2005. The 2005 and 2007 are the same.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
