4WD F-Superduty coversion

Figured I would start a thread to keep track of it.

Well. I bought a truck and all the 4wd conversion stuff. Now to just find the time to put it all together..
95 F-Superduty XLT Powerstoke 5speed 200k 161" WB 12' Box and lift gate(box will be a dry shed for parts)
I already have a lift hoist. Just need an aluminum flat bed

Today I picked up the D70, front driveshaft, T-Case(with built in adapter), parking brake, 4wd shifter and an I-pack tool box

Donor truck 460 5 speed 5.13 gears

Great minds think alike. I am building a similar truck only keeping the box on it. I have a F350 4x4 that I am putting a Uhaul box on. The box will be a self contained camper. Looking forward to following your build.

Just got off the phone with Quigley. I gave them the vin from the donor truck, and they indeed did the conversion. They are going to email me over all the specs with all the part numbers involved with the conversion. Any Quigley/custom parts will be noted and then any other parts will have the part numbers for the spicer, timken, and any other run of the mill parts

With the addition of the transfer case, will you need a different rear driveshaft also?

I have a 2wd 1991 F250 that I'd love to do a 4x4 conversion on (would love to do a diesel conversion too, but don't want to get too crazy.) I'm just beginning to really plan it out parts-wise, so I'll be watching and taking notes.

Yours is EASY since they made 4wd F250s. Just find a 4wd and rob the parts from it. Or better yet, just buy a 4wd F250

Heh, that's what I figured

This truck has a lot of family sentimental value, but I'd be happy just keeping the body and slapping it onto a 4x4 donor truck; preferably a later MAF-equipped or diesel-powered rig. Though then I will have to worry about mating up the cab electronics with a newer computer...

Benny, do a search for brads solid axle swap build thread. If you want an easy 4x4 conversion, get an reverse shackle kit (rsk) and find an axle. If you wanted to keep the engine and trans then you could do a divorce mount transfer case, but if you want a non od automatic idi diesel then it's an easy swap, if you want or have a manual trans, even easier of a swap.

But, let's get back to f-superduty business.

Where are the progress pics brad?!?!
Any chance of an rsk and be able to keep a safe factory gvw on this beast. You need a set of these tires on it. I wish I knew the quality of this tire. Seems expensive to be a guinea pig
