oil burning

looking at a 90 bronco xlt with the 5.8 in it. burns oil like crazy and raw unburnt oil comes out of the exhaust. are valve seals what needs to be changed or could this be head gasket and piston rings.

PCV valve could be blocked, or the engine might be on its last leg. Check the airbox under the air filter, is there oil there too?. That engine seems gone to me, but I would have to actually open it to see.
