I have a 95 stroker. The glow plugs and GPR seem to work properly. After the wait to start light shuts off I can start the truck and it will run for a second or two and will shut off and every time I try to start the truck its does the same thing. If I give it a little throttle and hold it for 30 seconds to a minute when the truck starts it will stay running. what is causing this condition?
It could be a number of things. Maybe a weak fuel pump, maybe the screen in the fuel bowl is clogged, uvhc might be bad, injectors bad, etc. We need more information on the truck. Also, check your fuel bowl to see if the fuel is black. Put a new filter in there.
What you are describing sounds like air intrusion on an old IDI engine. I've never heard of it on a stroke though. Check your fuel pressure, you should get at least 20 lbs while cranking it over.
The temp outside is 40.This truck is new to me .The filter is new,the fuel is clean, the bowl is full. This morning I got it started and warmed up it was running fine.I drove it about a mile it started chugging and died.I took the top of the bowl off and stirred the fuel around and it started but it drove sluggish back home
