Intermittent speedometer and tachometer fluctuations
My 2001 Exped (5.4 226k miles) has started acting up intermittently. The engine will be running fine and all of a sudden the tach drops to zero and bounces back up to normal. On some of these "bumps" I'll feel the engine stall for just a sec and then run normal. At times the speedometer follows the tachs action and when it does it a lot, the engine will stop all together.
Then it will run error free for 60 miles. I can't make it happen. It just does it whenever. I had the car in the Ford dealer but they couldn't find the problem or even duplicate it. No engine has come on.
