converting from efi to carburetor

Hey guys saw a motor trans on CL out of a 95 Lincoln, its complete minus the wiring harness. How much work is out to switch it to a carburetor. The guy bought it and it won't fit into his car and wants to get rid of it.
Thanks Dan

The trans may be electronically (computer) controlled, requiring a stand-alone controller.

Does it have a distributor or coil packs? A coil pack ignition engine may be very difficult and expensive to convert.

Depends on the engine ... If I had to guess a 95 lincoln would be the 4.6 liter ... I think 91-92 would have been the last years of the 5.0..... The 4.6 is a coil pack motor and I've had little to no luck finding anything related to a carb swap on them .... Now it it happens to be a later p code head 302 5.0 found in the explorers or mountaineers. They are relitively easy to swap over just pull cam sensor and intake swap on a carbed intake and drop a distributor in ......

I agree the '95 should be the 4.6 with coil packs. Why convert to a carb? You can find an ECU for that engine and keep the fuel injection.

I think you can get a wiring harness that will run the engine and transmission if it is a SOHC 4.6 and a 4R70W transmission for around $900 dollars. Get a computer from a scrap yard and you will be much farther ahead. If it has high mileage the transmission may need work and also torque converter replaced. That engine also had 4 oxygen sensors and catalytic converters in the exhaust. I was lucky enough to have a complete car with everything I needed.

I'm an old school era OF, but I can't understand anyone wanting to take a late model ECU controlled EFI and electronic coil pack ignition engine and "convert" it to carburetor and breaker type mechanical distributor??? To me that's like replacing the touch screen on your cell phone with a rotary dial!
