True true, with the motor numbers it's all pricey... THO, I'd put more faith in a stick b4 the slush box...

I dunno, if I would have had all the parts/pieces at my disposal when I was in need for the conversion, I would have done it. That being said, it is really REALLY nice to have a brand new E4OD that I know will do the job, shifts right, and is tough. I do like a manual for towing much better than an auto, but I think this JW is going to be a nice surprise. What it does NOT do that the stock auto did is gear hunt. That dumb E4OD would up-shift way before it needed to and it was so maddening. You could be going up a hill in the perfect part of the powerband and the damn thing would up shift. It was infuriating to say the least. This JW is a world of difference. Now he did say that he doesn't like where it shifts and could make it better by re-tuning my TS chip for shift points. I may take him up on that if I can get the time to get back over top his place before we head out, but if not, I think it is going to be pretty darn good.

I do know one thing...unloaded, it is nice to have an auto for sure.

I'd agree it's easier but the zfs 1st with stock tires and 4.10s is loooow... W 35s I can side step it in 1st w/out any pedal..
Yeah Byron, custom tailored shift points would be a great addition.... + for anyone who has ever had to "rock" your vehicle out of a predicament you know for a fact an auto is utter sh$!...

And the boost/power loss between shifts. I'll keep my auto too. Nothing wrong with a 5 speed, just not what I would want towing my load either.

I like the challenge. A jw or bts would be nice and for most is perfect. There easy to use. For me, I enjoy shifting through gears. Probably the trucker in me though

I have a zf in my 94 and e4od in the 97, I love the manual for long hauls in the country but when I'm driving in the city which occurs quite often I'd much rather be in the 97, I hate riding the clutch in stop and go. Absolutely hate it.

yeah man, I am right there with you. Living in Southern CA would have made me crazy with a manual. I'll be living in the boonies here shortly and may wish I had one, but then again, it's one less thing for me to do hauling horses or hay. I'll know more how I feel about this John Woods after towing across country here in a few weeks.
