Engine code for a 351W in a E150

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to find out the engine codes for a 1985 Econoline.

I'm looking at a E150 in California that the owner has said it has a 351W in it and I would like to find out the engine codes in chassis/tag to check which engine it was built with.

Would appreciate any help or directions to the right website to check.

1985 E150 available engines: 300 I-6 (4.9L); 302 (5.0L); 351W (5.8L).

1981 thru today: The 8th digit of the VIN is the engine code.

G = 1980/85 351W 2V / H = 1985/89 351W 4V

351w Engine codes

Thanks Bill! When the guy gets back to me with the info on the van I can check the number / letters you've given me and verify that it has a factory 351 Windsor.

Do you have any of the additional information on the rest of the 17 digit chassis number or can you direct me to a website that'll give me that information? Cheers!
