kick panel vents

so, i pulled the heater/AC box out of my truck, now there is a hole in the passenger kick panel leading to the cowl, where the heater box used to draw its fresh air from.

is there a vent panel that goes there to cover the hole, i swear i've seen one in a junkyard once, but i can't remember if it was a dent or bump?

same story on the drivers side, looks like there is a panel behind the e-brake assembly, is there one for that side too? i've always liked the "nut-chiller" vents in my other old cars personally, and i won't be putting AC back in for a good long while.

Not sure if this answers your question but my truck does have floor vents... On the drivers side it is on the side of the cab behind the e-brake assembly... There is a sliding door that moves fore & aft to open/close it. On the passenger side there is a plastic box the is mounted under the dash all the way to the right... A similar door but it slides up and down to open and close. They should have just put it on the side as they did with the drivers side but who am I to second guess a truck that was designed 10 years prior to my birth.

No panel that I know of for the passenger side to block off the x big hole where the a/c box went. I have seen a piece of sheet metal put there, or see below...lol.

Yes the "just a heater" box has a fresh air vent that "flips", open and close. And yes there is a slide open vent behind the e brake pedal. I have seen it on none a/c, trucks might be JY time?

Flip open vent, ck the second diagram part # 372703-5. R/H side, 1/2 way down. I think it should of came on your replacement none a/c box?

Sweet, cool info!
Let me clarify, I don't have any heat box right now, I was just going to use a vintage air universal unit and reuse the ducting i have that is still good. I blocked off the hole from the AC box with a nice piece of 1/4" aluminum plate so i have a good mounting point for future accessories.

Guess its time to hit up the junkyards like you said, I definitely remember seeing the LH side vent, but couldn't remember if it was a dent or bump that I remembered seeing the RH side vent once. Wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to fab something up either, its just time right??

I have read there are and there are a few threads talking about clogged cowl vents drains and that causing rust issues in some areas.

Pine needles are the worst to get in there.

Not to sure where the dvrs side gets its air for the kick panel vent, but if it was from the cowl, wouldn't rain go right in there? I would go investigate my 79 with a kick panel vent but I am on the road at the moment.

I'm planning on a vintage air setup eventually. My plan is to try and make a mirror immage mold of the drivers side vent. Cast it out of resin or the like and use it on the passenger side. I'll make a thread if it ends up working out like I think it will.

found one at the junkyard this weekend, the driver side won't work on the passenger side without a pretty major amount of work. the hole for the vent is higher up on the right side and totally different in shape. if you flip the left one and stick it over there it doesn't quite line up. i have a mental idea of how to do it, just need to find another vent panel that i can cut up a little bit and bolt to an adapter panel that covers the fresh air hole.

both sides are connected to the cowl, if you peek in through the fender you can see where the cowl makes its turn and drains out. there was about 4" of leaves built up in both sides on mine, but no rust yet. glad i got them cleaned out!

update:
thanks to 77&79F250, I was able to bring my idea to fruition.

just enlarged the hole for the heater box fresh air draw, and cut up the block off plate that was originally on the drivers side. seriously too me less than an hour (assuming you have no heater box lol). is my truck the first dentside with DUAL nut chillers?

Ok got it, thanks for the pic. So you have NO a/c or heater box at all?

Looks like you HAD a/c at one time? I see what looks like the a/c box gig fire wall hole on the far left of your pic, with a cover plate?

Notice the black star next to these numbers. This means the parts were not serviced separately, were only furnished with the 18B259 heater air inlet duct assembly.
