So new to actually posting stuff but ive been coming through these a while. Im going to be swapping out my 3sp for an aod in my 70 f100 w/302. Had a few questions. How much shorter a driveline do I need and its there one I can simply install or should I have mine shortend. Carb kickdown is that something I need on this old 2 barrel and will cable driven b&m shift o matic be an easy install. Thnx
I swapped a C6 in my 66 F100, I put everything in, got a drive shaft with the correct ends and took it to a drive line shop had it cut to fit then installed it.
I took the 3.03 three speed out of my 73 and first went to a C/4 , but just recently went with the AOD. I'm not sure it was worth the cost and work but i just got lazy shifting gears. I would never do it again just to get better fuel MPGs. But the C/4 i had needed rebuilt and so did the AOD, so i chose the AOD. My 73 came with the 360 and when i replaced it with the 302 i just located the engine to fit the drive shaft . Your situation is different so yes i believe you do it like "351Cleavland C4" suggested . ____JIM
