Iv got the lovely ECZ 9425-B intake on my truck, Just in-front of the thermostat housing and before the carb, I have a threaded hole, that is plugged with a bolt of some sort, that looked like it had some sort of copper pipe coming out of it. Mines been cut and crimped. Based on my understanding this used to be headed to the carb to help warm it?
Since i am lacking the press fitting in my heads for a water temp gauge (its just blocked off with something) can i just use the one in the manifold before the thermostat?
Anyone happen to know the thread pitch and size?
Its not leaking currently, and i have the bad luck of making things worse when I touch them, so i am leery to pull it till i have a replacement. Id like to get a working temp gauge. PO had some overheating issues and while he said they were gone after a new thermostat and a flush, I really have no way to tell. Shes not puking coolant but that's hardly a good judge.
Thanks,
That hole is for the heater hose, usually a 90 degree fitting, some have a off/on type valve. It's standard pipe thread I believe 3/8. You could put the temp gauge there if you not going to have a heater and can find the right adapters..
