You guys are great. Thanks for all the help. Now I need help in identifying my front hubs. I'm missing the outer ring and cover for one side. The front end is a H.D. Dana 44 (3500 lb) and I've never seen hubs like these. They are labelled dualmatic. I think they might be "flange style" hubs. You grab the whole outer ring and turn 1/4 turn to engage or disengage the hubs. I hate to have to buy 2 new hubs just to replace the outer ring so if anyone knows where I can pick up parts let me know. What is autoamtic about these hubs? Do they function the same as other part time hubs?

Dualmatic? That is the style of hub one needs to pull both levers out, twist, and put both levers back to get it in 4X? I call them monkey Wards hubs. I beleave, if this is the same hub, Montgomry Wards used to make the hub. I am not real familiar with them. In fact I haven't seen a set in some time now. Maybe this will help: they were used on a number of different 4Xs: Jeep, ******, Scouts, Land Rovers, and Dodge. If they all fit the same, I don't know. Wow, good luck.
I had dualamatic hubs on a 69 and have seen them on others. They were just an inexpensive aftermarket replacement but actually worked quite well. Do you have the type that you turn the whole end kind of like a door ****? The problem with these was that the "****" was held in place by 3 little screws that just went into a groove. I don't know if they are still being made but you could start asking at parts stores and if you find a store that still sells them they may be able to get the part or let you look in the box to get the address for the company. Also if you have the heavy duty version of the 44 then chevy hubs will fit if you want to go back to the original spicer style. The chevy ones are a lot more plentiful and the only difference was the color of the plastic insert. The dualamatics are easier to operate, just make sure you check the mounting bolts as they tend to loosen.
Also Ford ran the same Spicer locking hub as the Chevy. The ***** are Red and even say Ford. I have a set on my truck. The problem with these is the select **** breaks off inside leaving the hub ingaged. They don't make the select ***** any more either. I like the Spicer one because they are a lot stronger then the Warns. I have and a few of my friends have busted them. A friend of mine has also said that warn has improved the strength of them since then. They are the ones that are the most expensive . That would be nice, but I don't know. Go check em out see what you can find out.
