Exhaust Chirp?
I have changed about a half dozen of these 4.6-5.4 exhaust manifolds.due to studs breaking. After doing the passenger side on my recent 02 f150..5.4, I now have a "chirp" on load. It's not a classic tick, but is in rhythm like a tick. I can hear something loose in the rear convertor if I tap on it. I was also getting that "below threshold" code. As a temporary "fix" I shimmed out the rear o2 to get rid of the code until I can replace that convertor. Has anyone changed that convertor and can tell me if you can do it without pulling the trans crossmember? It is an FX4 so I think the skid plate must come off...I think. Anyone ever had that "chirp form the exhaust? I can not find it unless it could be internal in that bad convertor? New manifold is tight and no leaks, as well as the manifold/pipe joint.
