I've just purchased a new 03' Expedition XLT. I've noticed that when I select MAX AC (which circulates only interior air) it only blows cold air, even when I turn it to Heat. I know this may sound stupid however, in all my other vehicles, including a cheap Focus rental, that if I selected MAX AC and turned it to Heat, that it would still close off the exterior air and recirculate interior warm air. I use this in the winter months if I'm stuck behind some foul-smelling vehicle so I don't have to smell it. My question is: does this expensive SUV not have the same feature that many other vehicles do? even cheap bottom-trim line Focus'?? Thanks for your time
It probably engages the compressor anytime you set it to MAX, and it may have been cooling more than the heater was heating. How cold was the outside air? How long had the engine been running?
the outside temp has been around 90 (summer time). I talked to Ford Consumer Center (800-392-FORD) and even he said that I should be able to adjust the temperature with Max-AC selected. Thanks for the reply.
Hey you 03 Expedition XLT owners, are ya'll having the same problems??? Are you able to adjust the temperature while Max-AC is selected?? Or does it just keep on blowing cold air??
I posted this in the other thread you inquired about this. It has a water control valve that cuts off hot water to the heater core in MAX. You can over ride it if you want in the winter by placing a plug in the vacuum connector at the water valve.
