I used to use a Mity Vac. I just get better results with the 'drip, drip'.

only time I've had issues with it is when I forget to make sure there's still brake fluid in it

Gravity bleeding is a good thing! IF the fluid will flow it does not brake the air up into small bubbles (have the cap off). That in turn can be more complete purge. tapping is good to. I will do that plus take it for a test drive, retapp on them and bleed a little bit. Sometimes driving can shake small bubbles of air to the top of the calipers.

HEY,that does rhyme byron lol

a-aron it the proper spelling...keys n peels "substitute teacher" lol

I will give the gravity thing a try. Can't hurt, right? I got nothing but time tomorrow. Thanks Glenn! I can do it while I'm doing other stuff before I go to Napa

Yeah Byron, that's right. I'll even crack them open the next morning to see if any bubbles come out. If you have a lift, you can do all four at once as you walk around. But, as mentioned, watch the level in the master!

If you have the time you may want to get the stainless braided covered lines. The stock lines were too short (in my opinion) on my TTB front end.

Well I got it all done this afternoon. I didn't change out the lines because no one had them in stock around me. The left side was definitely sticking! The pad on the back side showed some proof of that from getting too hot. I used the pads though since they are brand new and looked fine.

I gravity bled and that worked pretty well, but then the wife got home, so she helped and I had both sides bled in about 15 minutes. The old brake fluid was pretty bad, but it's all flushed and good now. Test drive went well and they are working MUCH better. Truck doesn't pull to the left anymore and there was no smell or heat after a freeway drive and a few hard stops. I think it's good to go! Thanks for the help fellas.

Mine is 2wd. I didn't get new lines though. Couldn't find them. I'll get some ordered up before we make our trip in Dec.

Can you guys enlighten me on where you get your stainless brake lines from? I know I should have done it when I had it all apart, but......

I did notice a drip this morning on the driver's side I am hoping it is just residual from bleeding yesterday. My fittings are tight, so if it leaks after driving today, I guess I will be going back to O'Reillys for a different caliper. I did get the Lifetime warranty ones and they were the same price as Rockauto, so that was a win. Ruby is also going in this morning for her last upgrade until this winter. He is getting 2" add-a-leafs in the rear. The sag from towing last time REALLY bugged me and I can't afford AirLift bags right now, so this is a good option. I know the ride will be a little rougher, but its rough now, so how bad can it be? I think it will also improve the look when its unloaded. It just kinda butt drags, even unloaded. I'll put up some photos later this eve. It will be towing quite a bit more, so these things have become necessary.

I bought mine from Cary, goes by OBSWIZ on some boards. They seemed to take longer to arrive than I thought they should, but I wasn't in a hurry so it didn't cause me a delay. Also, they are not a direct bolt in as one of the stock clips has to be mangled to get it off (or I didn't know how to remove it) and one of the brackets on each side has to have a orientating tab filed off. Not cuss worthy, but I did huff a few times.

Even with brand new copper washers I had to tighten the hollow bolts onto the calipers tighter than I expected to keep them from leaking. No, I did not look up the shop manual torque value.

Hopefully I'll remember this little lesson when I change my caliper soon...one is dragging.

Hey Leo, thanks for the input. I just noticed you are in Denton. My wife and I lived there for a year and a half. We are moving back to Stephenville from Southern CA. My wife's brother lives in Denton and goes to UNT. Small world.

I was glad to hear that about the brake line bolts. I had to do the same thing and almost thought I was going to break one off! After driving today, I have good pedal feel and good brakes with no leaks. I think I may leave it alone and not do the lines just yet. I have been dropping a TON of $$ on this thing getting ready for the move back. Airbags are going in this weekend and that about taps me out for truck budget this month.

That's funny, some (like me) never leave Denton. We may move away for awhile...

I suspect Stephenville is a lot like that.
