window and dome light issues 01 F250 7.3
Hi.. Newbie here. I have a 2001 F250 crew cab diesel, and its been having issues with the power windows. They will randomly not go up or down, if they do, they only move slightly and stop. When you try to roll them up/down, there is a clicking under the dash (and the Relay 1 from the fuse box gets warm) and the dome light starts flashing. So here is what it is doing: Turn Key On, hit the window button, it slightly moves, clicking sound starts going and the dome light flashes then goes off all together like someone turned off the key, wait 5 seconds, the light comes back on, the key on tone goes off, then you can move the window a little more......then it starts all over again! Has anyone experience this? Any. Help will be appreciated..

Hey never heard of anything like that. Sounds like wiring issues. When I got my truck the windows were amazing, went up and down super fast never failed. Til one day my driver side won't go down and my passenger side is soooo slow. I've checked my fuses and relays. Everything is good and even the power window button makes a click like it's trying to engage but doesn't go down.
I also had a problem to where my truck didn't want to turn off once I turned the key back and pulled it out. I had no clue why it woundly turn off, I had to stall it out to get it to **** down. But then.. The radio wouldn't go off.. So I unhooked both battery's and let it sit for a week, went to move it and never had another problem with the radio or ignition not killing the engine. My window still doesn't work tho.

No. Are you thinking the gem modul? All the windows except the front drivers goes down about an inch then stops. The drivers side won't move. Will a shorted window motor cause this?

If the channels have accumulated dirt over the years the motors cannot overcome the resistance. Also, it causes more current to flow through the switches, the harness connections and the fuse block. Even if a fuse does not blow, the excess heat caused by the increased current flow can cause a loose connection at the fuse block or plug on connectors. Or it can cause the switches to fail. Or the motor can have an internal short circuit from being overloaded that will not blow a fuse, but will cause less horsepower to be available to do the job of moving the window. It can be a downward spiral. You may benefit from a wiring diagram so that you can bypass the switch for testing. Larry
