I don't have any recommendations on a machine shop in TN as I live in OK. But I just had a shop in Tulsa do mine and now I wish I had had Tim do it. The shipping cost turns out to be minimal in the scheme of things and I know his work is good. And if you aren't sure of your skills he can do the oiling system mods at the same time.
We can pickup a pallet weighting #600 from Atoka, TN. for $143,
or #400 for $135.
In some cases, depending on the location of your machine shop, it may cost more to drive the round trip.
Thanks, Tim. I'm still in initial planning stages (which means I'm thinking how to convince the wife that I shouldn't have to sell a guitar to finance it), so I'm still a ways out time-wise. That is not near what I expected freight to cost. Cool.
Yea, with shipping prices this low, customers don't have to feel forced to use their local shop.
I have been meaning to put together a price schedule on shipping, so this motivated me to get a good start.
In case anyone else is interested, here is a link to a price schedule I put together.
Just click on the "shipping pricing" link.
