Driver Side Rear Door Leak

2008 Limited - had a heavy rain 2 nights ago over 2 inches on the overnight and last night when I got home from work my wife told me she thought she heard water in the rear door of the Expy. I went out to check it out and sure enough you could hear water sloshing around in it. Today I went out after much consternation googling how to get the rear door panel off and found there was 1/2 to 3/4 of a gallon of water in the bottom of the door! I had to take the speaker out to get to it and then used a towel to sop it up. What a major pain. It did smell a bit musty, but I am not sure if this was a one time event or if it has been doing it for a while. We have never noticed water in that window so I have no idea how the water got into the inside of the door. Anyone ever hear of this before? I know there is an old thread on the rear hatch, but I couldn't find anything like this with a search. TIA.

Your drains in the bottom of the door are plugged. Open the door, and look behind the weather stripping on the bottom of the door. There are little drain holes along the bottom edge. Use your fingers or a pipe cleaner to clean them out.
5 minute job. Very easy if you still have the door panel off, do it from the inside. You might have little plastic rectangles along the edge, these are just trim pieces covering the holes, you can flex them and pull them out.

I didn't realize there were drain holes in there. There was quit a bit of muck, like mud in there. Thanks for the tip. I didn't realize it was supposed to get water in the door.

Well done. Easy fix. They do take on water but are supposed to drain.
