EOT vs ECT question

EOT vs ECT question
I was searching around a little bit and I see everyone referring to high ECT low EOT, I just put my SCT livewire in to check the delta and I saw 186 ECT and 226 EOT, I know they say a 15 delta max but this much of a difference? all the truck has done is an MBRP turbo back and the SCT with no tune on it just for the parameters for now, I kind of figure I will need a new oil cooler and EGR delete to fix the temperature issue but just want to check if there is anything else that could be causing such a high EOT, tonight it is about 50-55 out and the truck has 39.5 tires on stock gears with the turbo back that's it, the temps where after a 30 minute cruise down route 18 south here in NJ

That delta is excessive. I would try the VC9 and Restore before I replaced the oil cooler, if just for the sake of cleansing the engine. It might help and could possibly save the expense of the oil cooler. Good luck.

i will double check that tomorrow or when i go out later since the truck will be sitting for about 6-7 hours

Flush the cooling system, Back flush the oil cooler and heater cores.
Put a coolant filter on the truck and drive it for a few weeks.
If your deltas are still high, it is time for an oil cooler and EGR delete.

That's through the roof. Anytime my eot is creeping up to 230 you can bet my coolant is within ten or fifteen degrees unless it's coming back down (like coming down the other side of a big hill). Then coolant will drop faster. With that delta your oil cooler flat isn't working and I'm skeptical that backflushing will help (and even if it does its just flushing sediment back into the cooling system where it will plug up again). . Sorry to bear bad news but it's new cooler time. Be careful until it's repaired, those temp are getting high enough where you run the risk of damaging components. Especially plastic and rubber ones.

If the flush doesn't take at least 8 hours, it's not being done correctly. Plan on replacing the OC, I suspect it will not improve to reasonable limits. Good luck.

Mostly the flush seems to dislodge stuff that clogs up the oil cooler even more. the only flush I would try is to reverse flush just the oil cooler. No idea if that is possible without removing it from the engine.

Yes you can reverse flush the oil cooler while it is still in the truck. I believe the procedure is in the Tech folder.

I've done it.... I seriously doubt it will do anything on one THAT plugged up.

My truck runs with ect approx 188-190, and eot 195-197.... While towing up steep hills the highest I've ever seen is ect 215 eot 220... And as soon as I start going back down they cool of very quick.... Before when my cooler was clogged I had 190-230, decided to back flush the system and run vc9 and restore plus... And then back flushed the system and installed a new cooler... Needless to say the vc9 and restore plus cause so much crap to come off that the new cooler also clogged... So that's when I went with the ipr research kit... It's about the same amount of work as installing the cooler except now coolant is filtered 100% before reaching the cooler. No problems out of mine now.

the plan is to flush the system with the ford vc9 then backflush the oil cooler a few times and try and get the junk out of it. This is a band aid till I can get a bulletproof remote oil cooler. not gonna mess around with this any more. I had a new cooler installed 2 years ago when doing the heads and stuff and do not want to have to deal with this again. I will be getting the truck back today and have to tow my boat so will see if it unclogged the cooler at all.

What coolant are you using?
I had new egr & oil coolers installed about 150,000 miles ago and my EOT & ECT delta is now 18F (or more). Until a flush and coolant filter install earlier this week, I had always used the Ford Gold and had the dealership drain/flush the system about every 100,000 miles. Visually, my coolant system was very clean; no visible rust or anything else in the radiator or the degass bottle. But the oil cooler seems to be plugging with something. From what I've read, the Ford Gold coolant my be the problem.
Now I'm using Rotella ELC (no one had the Rotella Ultra ELC anywhere near me). I hoping my delta gets better or stays the same (I can live with 18* delta). I also now have a Scangauge II so I can keep an eye on it.
