I have a f150 with a 5.4L with 354,000 miles on it. It started leaking water somewhere on the front of the motor on the passenger side. it looks like it is under where the heater hose connects to the intake. I guess my question is can the water eat a hole in the intake? any suggestions?
Ive never heard of water eating a hole. i have read and experienced corrision when using the cheap green coolant. i run g05, meant for aluminum heads which is what you have. there is a common issue with the steel tube that runs from the back of the water pump to the firewall,
thats from my 4.6l but your 5.4 is a similar tube. those tubes have rusted casusing a leak. there is a coolant passage from the head to through the intake to the heater hose which you could have a bad gasket there. i have a leak in my truck there actually but the coolant goes in the motor not out.
my advice would be get a pressure tester, i have a mightyvac mv4560 which has adapters to use on alot of things, plus with the hose design you can attach it to anything you might pressureize or check presure buildup on. hope it helps!!!
