Hi all long time reader and 1st post :-),
Have a little issue when I installed my factory 13 Platinum F350 wheels on my Excursion ... 1st they sat way in due to the offset so I purchased 2.5" spacers/adapters . Went to install yesterday and noticed I will need to grind the factory stud for clearance no big deal for very little needs to be removed , I proceeded to finish 1 tire to ensure all would fit and what I found is the factory lugs with washers are too big to thread on all the way tapered style will go on but due to taper would have to go backward so the flat spot is seating on the wheel. Guess my ?? is do I need to replace with longer studs or can I run the Acorn/tapered backwards....?
thanks all for your help and time !
What spacers did you get? (link?)
How far too short are the spacer's stud threads? How far inside the nut is the end of the stud?
It does sound like longer studs may be in order.
Pics?
When I bought my spacers everything that I needed came with them. I just bolted everything together and then put the wheels on, no grinding or anything. Sounds like you ordered the wrong thing...
The spacers fit fine its the factory 2013 lugs with the washers that don't have enough lug to burry ............ im thinking Ill just buy some offset wheels
Ok, one I would never ever ever ever ever ever..... ever run those spacers. and two the acorns go in the spacers themselves and the OEM lugs should go on the wheels with no issues. If there is a problem send those back, they're obviously not correct. Are they hubcentric? If not throw them in a box and send them back. Do they have all those holes for multiple vehicles? If so throw them in a box and send them back. Do they need modification to go on? If yes toss them in a box and send them back. If it's not 100% right DON'T USE THEM!
No if the acorn lugs are not 04 Factory then I don't have the correct lugs . Bought it used and it had aftermarket wheels on it which must of been lug spef not hub .. Ill try a scrap yard tomorrow and see if the proper factory 04s !Thanks im thinking this is the issue !
Yes same lugs my 13 uses ... Not enough stud to thread it all the way ... The spacers were ordered by the Ford dealer and are made for the hubs not studs ... Also I know the acorns lugs that came with the kit bolt the spacers to the truck ...The wheels on the truck before I changed them to the 13 used the " acorn" style
