engine will occasionaly stall at idle and sometimes under acceleration engine cuts out but picks up again this may happen 4 to5 times only in the first two minutes of starting hot or cold any ideas possibly cps any one had the same problem
I'm having a similar problem but doesn’t stop after a couple of minutes and is mostly at idle or low acceleration. I found my problem is (I think) the exhaust backpressure sensor. I ordered one of the plugs to do away with the EBS. It may not even be related to your problem but I do know the EBS has a lot to do with warm up. I had my CPS go too and if felt more like it was running out of gas.
How does the exhaust backpressure sensor cause the truck to stall? I pulled the codes from mine the other day and that was the only code it had. Also once it has lost power for a sec. I shifted and gave it some gas (I know it's diesel) and it acted like I wasn't pushing on the pedal at all. I let up and pushed down again and it was fine and has been since but I don't know what that was.
I thought the throttle position switch under the dash because it didn't seem like it was all the way plugged in and since I unplugged and tested it and plugged it back in it has been fine.
I know it sounds stupid but I really feel mine has affected mine so much I thought my transmission was bad. Come to find out the EBS tube that runs from the passenger side Manifold had about 20 holes in it and looked like it hadn’t held pressure for years. I replaced the tube and I guess the EBS doesn’t know what to do now that it has pressure. I hope my problem is the EBS, it ran real bad at idle on the way to work today. Acted like it had a big cam in it.... I already replaced the IPR and CPS.
Sounds like the CMP sensor ("CPS"). I would buy one from International as they are usually a lot cheaper than Ford. Keep the one you have now as a spare. If you buy it from Ford, they call it a CMP sensor, not CPS, and International calls it a CAMP sensor. Just thought we should all have our terminology straight.
Before serial # 375549 use International part# 1821720C98 or Ford part# F6T012K073A . For serial number 375549 (including this number) and above use International part# 1825899C93 or Ford part# F7T012K073A.
