Pop's 74 Project
Our Story -
I learned to drive on my grandfather's 73 F100. He bought it and used it as a farm truck. Very low miles, but it was well… "heavily used". I always dreamed of one day fixing it up. Unfortunately on a visit to the family farm I found out my grandmother had given the old truck to the guy that mowed her grass! Fast forward 15 years and my father-in-law (Pops as my daughter calls him) was pulling his 74 F100 2wd w/360 to the road to sell for scrap. He hadn't driven it for years. I couldn't let two great old F100s go so I bought it from him. So it's there our story begins.
I worked on it at the edge of a field for 2 weeks nights and weekend to get it running. We rebuilt the carb, changed all the fluids, changed plugs, replaced bushings, installed new shocks, etc. We got it running well enough to drive it 150 miles back home. Since then we (my wife, my daughter, and a couple friends) have worked in our spare time to revive the old family truck.
We pulled the engine and had it rebuilt. We've gotten into the electrical systems, cleaned and painted or replaced everything in the engine compartment, replaced the heater motor and heater core, repaired everything behind the dash, and changed the gauges to white with LED bulbs. We have learned A LOT and done a ton of cleaning. Hope you enjoy the photos.
