I have a 89 ford f350, it needed the usual tune up , brakes, and what not. After replacing the brakes i needed a brake booster bc i still have no pressure on the petal. took it out to make sure they worked. Stopped on a dime, anyways now im running into a problem since fixing that. Now note that i have no egr system. I bought it as it came. So with after fixing the brake booster though, the truck would run but had a rough idle, and was running low rpm's as if about to stall. Then it finally did stall and hasnt stayed running since. now i can't get it to even stay running!!!! Makes me think there a leak in a vacuum hose. I Must keep my foot on petal to run and even then there sounds to be a miss or just does not sound right. It doesn't have a problem starting at all though. It came back with codes 41, and 32. So i kind of elimate code 32 bc i have no egr system ?! Should I still not be over looking that code , am I missing something. And i have put in a new o2 senser and still nothing. Any ideas on what can cause this or how to fix? Im at a crossroad here where i dont want to be buying things i dont need. Thank you.
When you say "no EGR system" do you mean all 3 parts(tube, valve, position sensor) are gone and if so how are the holes in the exhaust and intake plugged?
In addition to blocking off the EGR plate, you might check some of the other areas that aren't readily visible, like the PCV valve. Also, look around the area that you just worked with.
There is a grommet around the hole in the brake booster that the big vacuum line fits into. With lots of motion over many years, the grommet gets cut by the metal housing of the booster, and starts leaking. You can't see it unless you pull the vacuum line. It's caused more than one of my old cars to run as you describe.
