Looking for some input. Should I consider Mac spacer,, throttle body and intake for my 5.4. I don't ever put junk on my trucks. If the stuff doesn't work I would just throw it in the trash. Bolt on stuff gives me the creeps anyway.. I need to get more power I'm pulling heavy loads short distances..
Not all that crazy about chips. Also should I go to ford and have the latest program put into my puter. I have a early 99...
I have heard mixed reviews on the throttle body spacers. Some people say that they improve their horse power and MPG's, and other's say that they are noisy and a waste of money. What I would suggest is a bigger throttle body, such as a 75mm application. Well, you have a 350SD so look up what kind of throttle body would be an upgrade for you. I myself am thinking of getting a throttle body from MAC. I'll let you know how that goes.
I just installed a Granitelli Mass air sensor (76mm) and a BBK 75mm throttle body. I already had the K&N FIPK.
Now I have a check eng. light, a wistle just off idle, rough idle, and I think I lost power.

Actually, yes I did, but not at first. What I mean by that is that it took a while for it to "break in" properly. That was so that the computer adjusted to it and took into account the larger air flow. Now my mileage is awesome and so is the throttle response. I don't hear a whistling sound either, unlike some other folks. But that may be because of my Flowmaster roar! . Oh, consequently, it took about 500 miles that I noticed the performance. Oh and if you get a K&N kit, make sure you don't overoil the filter or you'll regret the results.
