2008 F150 - Want more power & better MPG

I have an 08 F150 5.4L super crew longbed with 109K on it. Original owner. Just replaced tires with a slightly larger 8 ply set and have noticed a big difference. Vehicle is sluggish and has to down shift more often than before. MPG appears to be dropping as well. I didn't expect the slight size/ply difference to have that kind of impact.

Spoke to local dealer who recommended new airbox (better flow), replace the coil (Accel) and possibly opening up the exhaust. When I pressed him for more options he told me (as a dealer) he couldn't speak to further options. As a ford guy I know he wanted to say more. He did say that chips don't work.

He directed me to this forum for possible options.

Any real life experience with a similar situation/objective?

Tuner...hands down best investment for you. You can tell the truck what tire size you are running and the tranny will compensate for them. Along with boosting horses and torque.

replace the coil (Accel)

Replacing the coils doesn't seem like a good investment, there are 8 of them. Tuner definitely, and can't go wrong with a cold air and flowing exhaust.

I went with a edge evolution. I'm happy with it but for more versatility I wish I had gone with a custom one from 5 star.
