Speed pickup problem again???!!!
"Ok I have a 2002 F250 4X4 and as I was driving down a dirt road the speedometer went to 0 mph and the digital odometer stayed at 9799.0 miles. Also the check engine light came up. The tach still shows engine speed and all other gages look good. The overdrive ligt is flaing. Any body have any ideas on what is wrong?
I would take it to the shop to get an answer but I live in a remote part of Alaska and have another week before I can get to a shop. Any help will be greatly appreciated. "
I finally had the truck taken to the shop and I explained to the shop manager what was going on with the truck. He said that the technician would ave a look at it. I called back that evening and asked if they had fixed my truck and the shop manager said the mechanic had run a diagnostic check and found that the main computer was bad. I told him I did not think that was the problem but since it was under warrenty ok fix it. It took four days for the part to get here and when I called to see if it was fixed this morning the manager stated that replacing the main computer did not fix the problem (duh). After doing some research the technician now thinks it is the module for the ABS system. I now have to wait another couple of days for this part to come in. I do not think that they have even checked the speed sensor in the rear differential yet, even though I ave suggested this about 5 times now. I am really starting to get upset with the dealer.
Let me know if you guys think I need to do some head banging on these guys or if I just need to bang my own head and wait. I would be interested in what you all think.
Henry
The real problem is can you find a qualified person to troubleshoot the situation. No one needs a parts changer..
