Now that the chevy is gone I can get back to the virgin!

Today I will pull the cab back in and prep it for chassis saver and to be mated back to its frame.

Thanks Scott!? (Your name or trucks name? )

I put the cab back in the shop and took the running boards and fender liners off. I have seen it before but didn't think much about it but was reminded, there is salvage yard (2004 F250 ford) on the running boards. Looks to be these were the only boards bolted to this truck with plain nuts and bolts too. I think the truck came without boards and after awhile the PO added them. Not a big deal in any way, just nifty to know.

After that I brought the old thermostat in and threw it in one of the wife's pots and watched water boil. I watched both on the heat up and cool down. The thermostat started to open at 180f, half open around 187-189f, 90-100% open at 195f. It was near identical closing/cooling down as well.

Is a thermostat rated at which point it starts to open or when it is full open or is there a percentage used?

The trucks name is "Grinch" and my name is Scotty. I screwed up on the spelling as I signed up a couple year ago. Lol. It should be scottytahoe as I'm from Lake Tahoe. Some how I through in to many t's.

As for the thermostat, from what I understand and was told by other mechanics that is how it should work, but I don't really know.

Maybe Stewart knows a way to change a name?

Did some reading on stants website. Turns out when the thermostat starts to open is the rating of that thermostat. So the one that was in this truck was a 180f. Should notice a difference especially in winter with the new 203f.

Looks like a perfect time to upgrade the trans cooler.

haha, right now looks like a good time to upgrade anything on this truck. After doing work on these trucks with the cab off like this I don't think I will ever attempt any major work under the hood any more. Pop the cab off and everything is right there in front of you at waist height. Its so nice!

As for the cooler, this truck will never need any more than the stock setup. It won't be going threw mountains or pull a trailer heavier than the work boat. If my X pulling the train keeps cool I have no doubts this truck will be fine.

Just trying to help spend some money.

Know what you mean on the cooler size though, if yours is working.

Yeah I understand, it is fun spending other peoples money!

Yesterday while waiting for the underside of the cab to dry (had lots of rain and very humid) I combed the AC condenser and blew out the coolers.

I am wondering to myself how I should flush the heater core though. I have been thinking just one hose in a bucket and the other up in the air with a funnel and just dump a couple gallons of distilled threw it?

Hopping running the dehumidifier all night was enough to dry stuff up so I can start paint today.

Wiped it down, blew it out, and painted it today. Pushed the chassis back up to the garage door so it is ready to go in tomorrow.

Gotta remember to flush out the heater core before the cab goes back on.

Cleaned. Yeah, see that crack inside the hot side intercooler coupler? Two new intercooler couplers on the way. The pipe to spider sides look good yet as well as the spider to plenum couplers.

Nice catch on the boot!

That Chassis Saver looks great. It will be my turn this week before the motor goes back in (hoping this weekend). Any tips on the Chassis Saver? Lol.

Looking up at the pics truck looks the same green as mine. Like it.
