I am in need of some tranny help on a 460 swap.
I have had the kickdown rod off for quite sometime, due to a engine rebuild.
When I went back with the same 460 I had in it before, I can't remember how to set the kickdown rod up. It used to kickdown and set you back, now it doesn't try to kickdown.
Any help would be welcome.
Running a factory '68 manifold, and a 750 holley.
Also any ideas where to get upholstery kits for the big brutes?
Take alook at your older carb...there should be an arm or some sort of linkage that the rod attaches to. Thats what pushes the rod to cause your tranny to downshift. IF you already have the rod attached, then there should be threads on the carb side that you can adjust when it kicks down. Make your adjustment there to set it.
I had a problem when swapping a 460 into my 1984 Bronco. The factory kickdown rod that came off of the 429/C-6 2wd tranny didn't work. So after some research I order LOKARS Ford C-6 part number KD-20C6HT from summit racing. The link to the site is below.
I have a Edlebrock 750 cfm on my 460 and I had to make a bracket to hold the cable on the front right portion of the carb. I made it out of 1/2"x2" aluminum angle stock.
