I doubt you can use the stock steering column since it goes into a manual steering gear box with a weird spline arrangement, plus it will be to long and difficult to cut down. Most likely, you will need a IDIDIT or Flaming River brand reproduction of a GM column. They come in different finishes and lengths and with or without column shift. (2) what pre-existing hardware are you asking about? Transmission crossmember can not be used with a different transmission, but cross members are easy to fabricate or buy ready to bolt in. Oh, and a warm welcome to the forum of Ford Truck Lovers.
The original column can be used. You will have to get a bushing similar to this 1948-64 Ford F-100 Column Delron Bush & Sleeve, Lower Centering to center the steering shaft in the column since the shaft is fixed to the steering box you will be removing. You sill also have to make a floor mount to hold the column solid and attach a u joint to the existing steering shaft.
