Engine oil pan gasket

Guys,

It's been a while since I posted. I think my oil pan gasket is probably shot to hell. Anyway, I was thinking of changing it out. What's the best and most efficient way to do it?

Thanks in advance,

Dom

Pan gaskets don't usually go bad by themselves. Have you torqued your pan bolts recently?
I bet you'll have to lift up your engine to accomplish.

Yep. I tightened them yesterday. Some were loose. Today is just 2 drops on the ground. Is the torque setting about 10 ft lbs?

Thanks,

Dom

Two drops? It's possible that you just squeezed out some oil between the gasket and pan or bedplate. I'd hit it with some brake or engine cleaner, hose it off and see if it continues to drip before I jumped to conclusions.

89 inch lbs or about 7.5 ft lbs. since it's an old gasket, more just a pinch more like 8-9, carefully.
