Advance timing ?'s

I just bought a 88 F150 351w 3.08 rear. I am only getting 12MPG and would like to advance the timing to see if I can improve mileage. Question is how do I advance the timing to 14 degrees?

Also the truck has a stock exhaust system. Can anything be done with the exhaust to increase mileage? There are no emmissions were I live.

Any help would certainly be appreciated.

You need to advance the distributor a bit. If your not familiar with timing lights, get some one to do it for you. Remember to unplug the spout.
