I have a 1999 F-150 that is giving an error code 32 (3 blinks then 2) on the airbag sensor. Does anyone know what this means? Is this something I can fix or do I need to take it to the dealer?
Is there any danger of the airbag deploying while my wife is driving it?
I am mechanically inclined and would appreciate any help.
A Light Flash Code 32 means the driver's airbag circuit resistance is too high. The most common problem that causes that is the clockspring in behind the steering wheel is bad. The clockspring is the piece that allows the steering wheel to rotate while keeping the electrical contacts between the steering wheel and the steering column connected.
To replace it you have to remove the steering wheel.
With the airbag light on or flashing the airbag system has been deactivated. It wont deploy whether or not your wife has an accident or not...tell her not to crash the truck until it's fixed
I have the same problem. Can you tell me how to locate this area so that I can try spraying contact cleaner on the surface? I believe that the cab had been rinsed with a hose many times by the previous owner and therefore corrosion could be built up. thanks
