I had major rear steer that became noticeable while towing and after doing a full suspension upgrade, the most likely contributing factor was the bushings in the rear springs. They were tired and could be easily moved around by inserting a screw driver when the springs were taken out for upgrading. The suspension is now very beefed up; however, the biggest problem could of been the bushings and the the play the spring had in the hanger.

Interesting. Is a polyurethane bushing available? I'll stick those in while I do a V/B or X/C upgrade.
Another 'cheap fix' in addition to Hellwig (but before full V/B swap) would be to add RAS to rear axle. I've got RAS on my rear "B code" springs, along with V code springs on front. This combo works quite well for me.
The best solution all around (I used on my 2003) was LandYots Radius Rods. He no longer makes/sells these. However, they worked quite well even with stock D/G springs. Kept the Ex going straight down the road.
I know the rear suspension is different in the Excursion than the F-Series. I know that the Excursion wasn't available with the heavier springs, but the F-Series was.
So I'm going to have a combination of F-Series parts and Excursion parts on. I'm betting that the Excursion shocks will be set up for the softer Excursion stock springs. Will F-Series shocks even fit though?

What makes you say that? The springs are completely interchangeable, the blocks are interchangeable, the F250 sway bar can be swapped on tot he Ex. The only thing different is the way the shocks mount at the top.
If you wanna do this upgrade, I suggest you take a day (or three, LOL) and read all the pertinent threads that cover the Excursion suspension listed in the tech folder.
