Transmission Interchange?

Transmission Interchange?
I have a 2001 F150 4.6 with a bad engine and a 2003 same with a bad transmission,what I was wondering willthe 01 tranny interchange with the 03 with out much headache?
Do you know any one that has done this?

I hear the 01 has 2 transmissions for that year,I have found no one that can give me a definite answer don't want 2 trucks tore down at one time,if you know what I mean.I would love to put back on the road......or sell it.

They offered a 4r100 but IIRC for the 5.4 only. Never seen a 4.6 with a 4r100 tranny. If the pans look the same then they are the same trans. The 4r70 pan is almost square and the 4r100 pan is rectangle with a corner missing. Hope that makes sense lol.
