So I need to check my fuel pressure but not sure what Im doing.I called around & found the pressure port adapter which the fella I was talking to said that a hose goes on the other end.So do I just hook the hose up to it?Id imagine I need to piece something together.Does anyone know of a write up or can tell me what I need to buy. Thanks
The important test is both static and WOT. It should never drop below 42 PSIG under a load (driving). Just put the gauge in the windshield. And, IMO you don't want it higher than about 80 PSIG unless you've got the MODs that require it.

There is a port on the fuel filter housing that you can connect it. However you won't be able to see it while driving the truck.
There are 3 types off aftermarket fuel pressure gauges. One kind has the fuel running thru it so you can't put it in the cab. Some crazy rednecks like me do this:
redneck gauge pod 1
redneck gauge pod 2
The most commonly used fuel pressure gauges can be mounted in the truck since they use electrical signals rather than actual fuel running thru the gauge. IssPro is a popular brand.
The third type of fuel pressure gauge sends electrical signals from the fuel pressure sender to a comprehensive gauge like the Aeroforce ScanGauge 2.
I use both the IssPro and the ScanGauge2. I installed the redneck pod when I had to buy a fuel pressure gauge off the shelf at Autozone when my IssPro sender failed.
You're better off to use the lower fitting. That one is post filter, so if the filter starts plugging up, you should be able to tell by the pressure drop.

I agree. like said, post filter gives the pressure that the injectors are "seeing".
yup, you'll want a#4orbto 1/8(f)npt. you'll also want, a 90* 1/8npt x 1/8npt(f). Get a grease 18in grease gun hose.(has 1/8npt fittings). This way, its nota bear to thread the hose into the fitting, by using the 90* swivel. get a 200psi liquid filled gauge and a 1/8npt coupling to secure hose to gauge.
You can also then check the hpop manually with this same setup since the hpop plug..(atop the resivoir) uses the same size thread as that, of the fuelbowl
