Given the F150 has been one of the top sellers year-after-year the number of recalls isn't that big a surprise really. Then again what the recall entails or just how serious it is or can be safety-wise would be even more interesting.
Yea they lump everything together. So your right breaking it down would be interesting. I was kind of surprised to see the F150 top the list. Some of the others no so surprising.
I had a new 1986 F-150 that was recalled for a paint defect. My dad's 1989 was recalled for paint and ignition issues. My '88 was recalled for ignition issues.
Looks to me like Ford has done an amazing job of getting out in front of some issues and hopefully fixed defective vehicles before they hurt or killed someone.
Another thing to remember is that many items that are recalled are built by parts suppliers for all the auto makers.
Tim, that is where a break down would be interesting. I just took my 95 F150 4x4 in for a recall or a switch on the master cylinder. It was the second notice because the PO didn't take it in.
