Well, they got a bad rep early on since they followed the 7.3 that didn't need much but fuel.
The 6.0 is a great motor, it just needs regular maintanance. I've had mine since it was new in 05 and it's been nothing but great. Outside of maintenance, I have only had $650 worth of repair parts. Definitely not as bad as the horror stories you read on the internet. But, I maintain my vehicles pretty well too.
