Pillar gauge mount

The other thing I want to do to this rig is get the pyro and boost gauge up on the drivers pillar. I am sort of thinking of adding an oil pressure, and temp gauge also. Is there a supplier that provides a good fitting product that allows enough room to do all the connections at the back and still all fit together nice? I assume that someone in this group has already done all the leg work and cussing to get this right!

Thanks,

So you need a 4 gauge pillar pod correct? Glowshift has one. I have their 3 gauge pod and gauges and have had no issues at all with any of it.

I went with Autometer triple gauge pillar and Autometer full sweep stepper motor gauges.

Here is what I used for the pillar.....

Here is an example of one of my gauges. All three are from this series and all three are stepper motor gauges...

The pillar gauge pod does not replace the existing trim, rather it caps the existing trim, sandwiching the gauges, wires and connections between.

I haven't done this yet myself but from what I read the stock pillar trim has to be drilled and carved to provide clearance for the gauges.

This is unfortunate as they could have made the the pillar mount a complete replacement piece.

So, I have bought a spare trim piece so if I ever remove the gauges I can replace my hacked up trim piece.

It looks as though the autometer pod linked above is an entire replacement piece as opposed to an overlay.

I will likely remove and sell this when I install my pillar gauges.

But column mounted single gauge like an Aeromotive Interceptor may be an acceptable option to you. You can add two external sensors, like EGT and Boost. Trans temp and a few others are monitored via the OBD port. It will read codes and run some basic diagnostic tests.

I think GlowShift has a multiple sensor monitoring gauge too.

The Auto Meter one is a cap as well. Note how it doesn't have the piece that runs above the door? I don't think there is anyone selling one that isn't just a cap.

Agreed. Here is what the trim pieces look like:

No one makes FULL replacement A pillar piece for one simple reason..... SHIPPING. The box would be too big and shipping would at least double

It's not shipping. I regularly order coils of split loom and they are shipped in boxes plenty big to hold that trim piece.

Well DUH. Of course they make boxes that size. It just costs more to ship

As an example, an 8"x24"x24" box at 5 pounds (what I figure a complete moulded assembly would be), shipped from the GlowShiftDirect.com store in NJ to my house in WA would be $19.28. That's at my low volume shipping rate. I'm quite certain that a major shipper would get a much lower rate. An 8"x8"x18" 4 pound box (about what the gauge pack without the extension would probably be) is $17.82. For about a buck and half more shipping, I would happily order a complete moulded assembly. Like I originally said, shipping isn't the reason they don't do it.
