Something I haven't seen in any of the posts here... has anyone tried to build their own gas tank to fit the opening? Most of the posts I see are folks trying to find a ready-made one to fit, seems it might be easier to do it the other way around and just take a brake to some sheet metal and weld one up.
It would definetly be one of those things you would want to be dang sure you do right the first time... any horror stories or tips out there?
Seems to me that I remember reading a post about someone going to a shop and having one made. I think he said it was cheaper than buying a new tank from some aftermarket location. I did find a new mustang tank along with sending unit and gaskets for around 175.00 or 145.00(+ or - 10 bucks), i can't remember now.
Just make sure to have it pressure tested and all the fail safes taken if you make one yourself.
