Spare e99 PCM?
I am considering keeping my eyes out for a used PCM for my truck. The one I have is tuned (live tuned?) and there is no way for me to turn it off. I am having tranny issues (intermittently drops to third for no reason at highway speeds) and I think an extra one in stock would be a good idea.
Am I off base with my thoughts? What years will fit my truck? What should I beware of when scoping one out to buy?
Thanks,
Mark

Never a bad idea to have a spare PCM.
You can use an E99 DPC-402 XLE PCM like the one that is in it. Or you can use a L99-01 DPC-422 PCM. Some codes would include PMT or NVK.
Just look for a known good PCM. It is always a toss up with electronics though, as there is no way to physically see if they are bad.
