I went with stainless tube steps S223006-2 by Aries. I didn't want to spend as much as the Iron Cross runners were going to be, and I thought the truck could benefit from some contrast from the black that is almost everywhere.
I think they look like they belong considering the chrome on the cladding and the bright wheels.
Thanks again for the tip on TruckCandy.com. They shipped them free and they were priced cheaper than anywhere else I could find.
Dirty already, need to wax them up.
Since I put them on, it has been harder to see when I unlock the doors from any distance. I used to look for the lights on the stock running boards, and now, obviously, they aren't there any more. So here is my solution.
Based on some others posting about LED lights and their relative sturdiness, I chose these for my project.
I got two of them. I took the pig tail from the stock boards. I soldered them to the lights like so-
Then I mounted them to a hole I drilled in the frame. They just plug right up to the stock harness. I put stainless bolts where possible and used a glob of anti seize between the bracket and the frame.
I will post a night time picture once the what little sun we have is gone. They don't seem to be over taxing the circuit, so less wiring than I thought I might have to do. If these work out, I plan to hook a couple more up for reverse lights once I put my $200 Curt Hitch on next week.
I kinda wanna hurry up. We had our first snow falling yesterday...Joy!
I got some night time shots. Makes me think it would be nice to maybe have 2 more under there to light up under the rear doors a little better.
I am pretty impressed how bright they are. I am looking forward to getting them on the rear for auxiliary back up lights. They should be crazy bright on the snow this winter.
I was planning this as well (Removed my steps awhile back) and really like how you did it. You did a few things differently than I would and I think I can make a good mashup of the 2 and come up with something new
I had gone back and forth with the idea of waterproof LED strip lights, but there is too much under there that would make it difficult. Now that I have seen it a couple of days, I will probably go for another pair in the future, along with using the same for aux backups.

I'm trying to find some good looking small white LED marker lights that will go well with the amber LED marker lights i put on the pinch weld. I have a set of flood lights i want to replace in the center hooked to a switch if they will fit i would like to find some nice LEDs to go there.
Threw these on wired into the stock harness, mounted the strips right below the weather seal on the doors. Can't see them unless you're looking up from the ground.

I've got a set of the Iron Cross running boards that I'm waiting to throw on. Going to be drilling close to 16 holes in each one and mounting flush LED's wired to the parking lights for the big rig style running lights.

Oh there'll be pics rest assured. I just need time to work on them. Between my daughter, my school, and the new engine for the Chevelle I don't have a lot of free time.
