I agree with Pat, great to see this thread back and hopefully it will help to get your chapter members interested again.

BTW Splash, what is your first name??? It makes it much easier to call people by name or nickname than using your screen name

our season opened here in MI wednesday. i haven't deer waited with a bow in years.. not since i realized how much more fun waterfowl hunting is. next weekend is the opener for that in my neck of the woods. getting lots of rain here this weekend, hoping one of our corn fields fills up with sheet water, makes for a great opportunity. good luck this season!

I'm hoping I can get out and get some Pheasant hunting done this year. Had a knee go bad on me, and it's been tough to get out the last few years.

YEP!! you too!!

Our season in IN started on Wednesday also, but I rarely get out for opening day of bow...now opening day of gun is another story! As you probably know November 15th is a holiday in MI...I know that come hell or high water I'll be in my gun blind that morning.

The only November 15th I can ever remember missing was 4 years ago...believe it or not, my FICM died when I was leaving the house on the 14th to drive up for hunting!!

I got 100 acres near Cadillac...the only problem is MI still charges me for a non-resident deer license even though I own land in MI and pay taxes on it in MI

Oh well...for the last few years I have been able to fill both my tags and my extra doe permit

i'm from a rural town, and every year the whole school district had gun day off for that reason.

i just got back into gun hunting last year.. i miss having venison in the freezer. honestly if i could whack a doe early and get back to birds i'd be more than happy.

yeah i'd say that's some BS.

some family of family had 400 acres up by Marion that was sold a couple years ago.. damn shame, as we were only able to waterfowl hunt it one time before it sold, and it was hands down the best hunt of our lives. was an oasis back there.

Are you from Caledonia? I been around there a bit growing up...I grew up in Jenison and went to school in Hudsonville.

Had some of the best times "Cruising the strip in Grand Haven"...
