We all feel it Pop.
It sucks without Steve but we gotta keep on keepin' on.
Maybe this Saturday will give us a little sense of community that left with our boy.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all there.
The Mrs. and I will be there then off to visit our new grandson.
All my best to all of you.
99 degrees forecast for tomorrow. You guys turning up the heat so I will feel right at home? You don't have to do that. I like mid 80's just like everyone else.
Well this is spooky.
Went out to start the 3 fitty this morning and nothin'.
Turned over a couple times then quit.
Checked the batteries and they were at 11.4
Charged 'em and got 'em back up and it started fine.
They're pretty old so maybe time for a dual replace.
Gonna let them sit for a while and see if they drain.
Alt looks normal. No wobbles or weirdness. Charging at 13.8 during idle. Should that be higher?
The tensioner is oscillating a bit more than I think it should.
Update.
Went out and checked the batteries again.
Back down to 11.5
It still started.
Checked batt at idle. 13.0 not 13.8
Sounds like the reserve capacity may be at end-of-life.
I'd like to see about 14.4 AT THE ALTERNATOR terminal, as there are some I^2R losses through the wiring harness, and especially if the glow plug relay had not yet shut off.
The idler assembly takes up all the discrepancies in pulley trueness, and I wouldn't be too concerned unless it's swinging wildly.
Thanks for commenting Pop.
Those measurement were at the battery as getting to the alt in a 6.4 is not something you want to do on a 100 degree plus driveway.
Think I'll buy a new set tomorrow and see where I'm at after that. It's about time to replace anyway.
