Has anyone ever run across this issue when they tried to use the Ford IDS to change the Tire Size/Axle Ratio, parking brake chime, other features, or reprogram the GEM? This was attempted on a 99 Super Duty for training use. I've never seen this happen before. The GEM on this truck didn't display any obvious issues or problems. However, it won't take a reprogram or accept any information. I've reprogrammed the ABS/TCM module with the new tire size, and flashed the PCM without any problems.
I noticed that the information stored in the GEM was incorrect. It had wrong differential gear ratios, tire sizes, and tire revs/mil when I retrieved them.
Would this be due to corrosion, messed up GEM, or just a particular run of GEM's? (similar to early '96 Dodge RAM ECM's that lacked certain functionality and had some features that couldn't be changed until later model years)
