I just picked up my new vehicle last Wednesday and have a coulple of questions about it. It's a '99 Explorer XLT 4x4 with the 4.0L SOCH engine with 97,000 km (approx 60,000 miles).
1) Tire Pressure- I checked the pressure in the tires soon after I got it and they were at nearly 40psi. I checked for the tire pressure specs on the drivers door. The only info I found said 28psi on the manufacture sticker. My Contour had a seprate manufacture and tire pressure stickers. Is this the correct place to look? 28psi seems kinda low to me.
2) I know Ford started selling all their SUV as LEV in 1999, is there anyway to tell if mine is one of them?
The main issues I know of with the SOHC engine are the intake manifold o-rings and the cam tensioners and guides. Check to see if those issues have been taken care of on this engine, and, if they haven't, see if they are still under warranty from Ford.
